Job summary

The ideal candidate will be a team player with a commitment to helping all students succeed academically. The position is full-time on a 180-day contract, reporting to a building administrator, with duties spanning multiple instructional settings.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree or 60 college hours preferred.
• Ability to follow directions and work collaboratively with teachers and staff.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to helping all students succeed academically.
• Experience working with children or in an educational setting is preferred.
• Shall be able to demonstrate an acceptable level of proficiency with computers and programs associated with the position.
• Successful completion of pre-employment background checks and professional conduct around students, staff, and the public.

Responsibilities

• Support the implementation of instructional plans as directed by the special education teacher.
• Work with students individually or in small groups to reinforce learning objectives.
• Assist with classroom organization, preparation of instructional materials, and maintaining a positive learning environment.
• Monitor student progress and behavior during academic activities.
• Provide support and supervision in general education settings, ensuring appropriate accommodations and modifications.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation as directed.
• Communicate effectively with students and staff in a professional manner.
• Maintain student confidentiality at all times.
• Adhere to district policies and report concerns as required.
