Job summary

DeKalb County Central United School District seeks a Dean of Students at James R. Watson Elementary School to lead behavior support, MTSS/RTI processes, and school operations.

You will work with staff, families, and the admin team to develop programs, conduct training, and coordinate attendance, discipline, and after-school activities. Bachelor's degree or higher, valid teaching license, and 3–5 years of teaching or admin internship are required; strong communication and organizational skills

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher.
• Valid teaching license.
• 3–5 years of successful teaching experience and/or completion of a comprehensive administrative internship training program.
• Knowledge of the principles, techniques, goals, and legal aspects of public education.
• Familiarity with modern curriculum trends for elementary students.
• Creative thinker and problem solver with strong communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills.
• Excellent organizational, prioritization, and multitasking abilities.
• Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and team-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead as a member of the leadership team to guide operational procedures and practices.
• Plan, develop, and conduct staff development and training programs.
• Coordinate public and community relations activities.
• Develop relationships with staff emphasizing mutual respect and confidentiality.
• Meet with the administrative team to review progress on initiatives.
• Provide family and student services and resources as needed.
• Support RTI (MTSS/PBIS) processes and serve as Case Conference Coordinator.
• Develop and monitor Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) and Functional Behavior Plans (FBPs).
• Lead anti-bullying initiatives and monitor attendance and behavior data.
• Assist with or lead parent meetings for behavior concerns and classroom management coaching.
• Coordinate after-school activities and facility use; oversee paraprofessional schedules.
