Job summary

Tacoma Public Schools is seeking a school crossing guard to monitor elementary crosswalks and assist students crossing the street safely. The role involves stopping traffic with a flag, observing student behavior, and reporting unsafe situations.

Work hours are determined by the building administrator, with a maximum of 2 hours per day, potentially split between before and after school. Prior completion of district training is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Stops oncoming traffic using a flag to permit students to cross safely.
• Monitors students’ activities and behavior near the crosswalk.
• Reports inappropriate student behavior and vehicles that fail to stop when signaled.
• Performs related duties as assigned.
