Job summary

Howell Public Schools in Hutchings Elementary School is seeking a part-time Food Service Breakfast Helper to support the school's nutrition program. The role reports to the Kitchen Manager, Food Service Director and/or Principal, and runs 5 hours daily from 8:30 am to 9:00 am.

Responsibilities include serving breakfast, ensuring meal components are taken, recording leftovers on the FPR, and maintaining a clean serving area, with physical duties as described and regular attendance required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma (or equivalent) and must pass a basic math skills test.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English and read instructions.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with students, staff and families.
• Ability to perform duties with awareness of district policies / guidelines.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with cash register operations.

Responsibilities

• Serve breakfast or help ring students up.
• Oversee that students take the appropriate meal components.
• Count leftovers after breakfast and record on the Food Production Record (FPR).
• Help put breakfast food and supplies away.
• Clean and sanitize work area and serving station.
• Regular, predictable in-person attendance.
• Perform other duties assigned by the Kitchen Manager or Food Service Supervisor.
