Job summary

KIPP Columbus is seeking a dedicated Behavior Assistant to support students with behavioral needs and collaborate with teachers to maintain a positive learning environment.

The role requires at least 1 year of school-based experience, relevant training, and an educational aide permit. You will work under the guidance of the behavior team to implement plans, collect data, and support student progress on campus.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a school-based Behavior Assistant.
  • Minimum 10 hours of training in behavior management and positive reinforcement.
  • Active educational aide permit through the Ohio Department of Education & Workforce.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with students and staff.
  • Ability to remain patient, calm, and consistent in managing challenging behaviors.
  • Proficiency in documenting and reporting behavior-related data.

Responsibilities

  • Assist students in following behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and IEP goals.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students exhibiting challenging behaviors.
  • Use reinforcement strategies, de-escalation techniques, and positive behavior supports to address behavior concerns.
  • Monitor and record data on student behavior and intervention effectiveness.
  • Support teachers in managing classroom behavior and promoting a positive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with BCBA, teachers, school counselors, and administrators to address student needs.
  • Attend training sessions on behavior management and de-escalation techniques.
  • Maintain professional and respectful interactions with all school staff.
