Job summary

KIPP Columbus is seeking a dedicated Behavior Assistant to support students with behavioral needs. The role emphasizes implementing behavior plans, de-escalation techniques, and data-driven progress within a collaborative school setting.

Typical responsibilities include one-on-one support, classroom behavior management, and coordination with teachers and specialists to create a safe, supportive learning environment across a diverse student population.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year experience in a school setting.
• Minimum 10 hours training in behavior management techniques and positive reinforcement strategies.
• Active educational aide permit through the Ohio Department of Education & Workforce.

Responsibilities

• Assist students in following behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and individualized education program (IEP) goals.
• Provide one-on-one or small group support to students exhibiting challenging behaviors.
• Use reinforcement strategies, de-escalation techniques, and positive behavior supports to address behavior concerns.
• Monitor and collect data on student behavior and intervention effectiveness.
• Assist teachers in managing classroom behavior and promoting a positive learning environment.
• Collaborate with BCBA, teachers, school counselors, and administrators to address student needs.
