Job summary

Fort Madison Community School District seeks an Educational Hearing Interpreter to provide sign language interpreting and communication access for an elementary student who is deaf or hard of hearing during a 90-minute daily instructional block.

The interpreter collaborates with teachers and staff to ensure access to instruction, maintains confidentiality and professional conduct, and participates in IEP meetings as requested.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; higher degree preferred.
• Demonstrated proficiency in ASL and English.
• Ability to collaborate with teachers and staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide ASL interpretation for 90 minutes of instruction daily.
• Facilitate communication between student, teachers, and peers.
• Maintain confidentiality and professional conduct at all times.
• Collaborate with educational staff to support access to grade-level instruction.
• Participate in IEP meetings as requested.
