Explore Schools in Brooklyn is seeking an Elementary Apprentice Teacher to join our in-person program. You will work in one classroom as a support teacher, refining skills under a mentor and delivering standards-aligned lessons.

The role includes leading a daily period, small group instruction, participating in meetings, creating assessments, and maintaining student records, with emphasis on equity and dismantling white supremacy culture.

Qualifications

• Some experience working with children.

Responsibilities

• Lead one period of instruction daily as the lead teacher.
• Support the mentor teacher throughout all instructional blocks.
• Lead small group instruction across core content areas and/or grade levels.
• Attend and participate in PLCs, grade-level meetings, and PD sessions.
• Collaborate with colleagues across content areas and grade levels.
• Participate in creating, revising, administering, and grading assessments.
• Keep accurate and organized records of student information.
• Conduct parent-teacher conferences and ongoing parent communication.
• Ensure the safety of students at all times.
• Assist with non-instructional supervision of students and coverage.
• Actively engage in identity work to dismantle white supremacy culture.
