Job summary

Samtec, Inc. in New Albany, Indiana seeks a Chemical Engineering or Chemistry Co-Op to work with the Plating Lab, Process Engineering and Materials Innovation Group. Gain hands-on exposure to electroplating tests, baths, and R&D in a fast-paced environment.

The co-op will analyze electroplating baths, perform post-plating quality checks, and help advance new plating methods while collaborating across teams and maintaining a customer-focused mindset.

Qualifications

• Sophomore, Junior or Senior pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
• Excellent Written and Verbal Communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with a team.

Responsibilities

• Learn the Samtec electroplating process.
• Perform analyses including UV-Vis and ICP-OES to monitor baths.
• Complete post-plating quality checks such as gold usage and porosity analyses.
• Investigate customer and internal quality problems.
• Record and update plating process parameters in Samtec systems.
• Assist in laboratory and plating process improvement projects.
• Run electrochemical experiments for R&D in plating technologies.
