Job Summary:

EP Tech I is a healthcare professional who, utilizing specialized equipment and under the guidance of a qualified cardiologist, performs procedures on adult patients to ensure accurate diagnosis and/or optimal treatment of congenital or acquired heart arrhythmias while maintaining maximum patient safety. The EP Tech I primarily employs imaging techniques, operates related equipment, and assists cardiologists during procedures.

Job Description:

1. Operate and maintain radiographic, digital, processing, and viewing equipment to produce high-quality images. Assist in operating mapping systems and ablation generators. Apply principles of radiation safety and protection.
2. Act as the first assistant during diagnostic EP studies, therapeutic ablation procedures, and surgical device implantations to ensure case completeness.
3. Maintain thorough knowledge of all diagnostic and therapeutic equipment and products used in procedures to ensure accuracy and safety.
4. Review pre-procedural patient assessments to gather adequate information, communicate pertinent data to physicians, and ensure appropriate imaging and patient safety.
5. Assist in educating new employees, mentoring students, and observing healthcare professionals in the EP lab.
6. Contribute to performance improvement activities in the EP lab, including idea generation, data collection, analysis, and implementing changes to ensure best practices. Maintain an accurate implantable device database.
7. Perform duties in accordance with population-specific standards and competencies, including age-specific and diverse patient considerations.
8. Perform other duties as assigned.

Education, Credentials, Licenses:

• Must be a Registered Technologist (RT), licensed in the state of employment, and registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.

Specialized Knowledge:

• CPR certification

Experience:

• Two years as an RT or one year as a Cath Lab or special procedure tech.
