Job summary

The University of Maryland Medical System in Towson, MD seeks a Physician Assistant or Adult/Gerontology Nurse Practitioner to join our cardiovascular team. You will work with electrophysiologists in office and hospital settings to deliver comprehensive care, focusing on expediting hospital consults and preoperative assessments, and managing arrhythmias.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant or Adult Primary Care Nurse Practitioner program.
• Current licensure as a PA in Maryland or NP through Maryland Board of Nursing; NPI, DEA, CDS required.
• Certification by NCCPA or AGACNP/AGPCNP.
• Preferred minimum of 2 years of cardiology or electrophysiology experience.

Responsibilities

• Independently evaluates and manages patients with a wide range of cardiac conditions.
• Performs comprehensive histories and physical examinations.
• Interprets and synthesizes diagnostic data including labs, imaging, and EKGs.
• Assess the need for cardiac monitoring (external patch or implantable loop recorder).
• Provides education to patients and families regarding cardiac conditions, procedures, and lifestyle modifications.
• Manages pre- and post-procedural outpatient care for patients with cardiac procedures including Watchman, pacemaker/AICD implants, and ablations.
• Collaborates with cardiologists, electrophysiologists, interventional cardiologists, and multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.
• Assists with inpatient consults and assess need for pacemaker/ICD implants.
