Job summary

Performance Drone Works (PDW) in Huntsville, AL, is seeking an Engineering Technician to join our hardware-focused team. You’ll contribute to the assembly of design validation, quality assurance, and in-house test fixtures, along with electro-mechanical sUAS and PCBA work.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent.
• Past work experience in technology, engineering, and manufacturing environments is preferred.
• Solder certification and inspection to IPC J-STD-001 / IPC-A-610 / IPC-A-620 highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Conduct testing and troubleshooting of electrical systems, equipment, and components to ensure functionality, safety, and regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with engineers to build and test prototypes of electrical systems and implement improvements based on results.
• Execute DVT on incoming designs per hardware team instructions.
• Conduct ATP on incoming production inventory, including visual inspection and functional testing.
• Author, propose, and edit DVT and ATP plans as drafted by the engineering team.
• Assist in assembly, installation, and calibration of electrical systems and components with engineering support.
• Diagnose PCBAs using schematics via visual and electrical testing.
• Perform hand rework of prototype hardware and production PCBAs and electro-mechanical assemblies.
• Update work instructions and documentation to support manufacturing and QA.
• Keep leadership informed of issues, progress, and risks.
• Support continuous improvement efforts to optimize processes.
