Job summary

BSU Inc. in Austin, TX is seeking an experienced electronics technician to test, troubleshoot and repair assemblies down to component level using meters, oscilloscopes and power supplies.

You will perform functional testing of boards and subassemblies, document results, and participate in fixture improvements to boost yield; the role requires 5+ years in electronics repair and the ability to read schematics.

Qualifications

• Familiar with electronics components and reading schematics.
• Ability to resolve technical problems using computer skills.
• Minimum 5 years of detailed troubleshooting and repair of electronic circuit boards.
• Experience with analog, digital, power supply, and high voltage circuits.

Responsibilities

• Board assembly programming and functional test execution.
• Failed board circuit troubleshooting, repair and data reporting.
• Participation with functional verification of board & subassembly Test Fixtures.
• Operate the Flying Probe and AOI board verification test instruments.
• Recommendation of test fixture improvements to drive yield improvement.
• Identify and communicate negative yield trends and repair actions.

BSU Inc. is a dynamic and fast-growing Electronic Manufacturing and Design company.

Summary:

The candidate will be responsible for testing, troubleshooting and repair down to component level of electronic assemblies utilizing test equipment such as meters, oscilloscopes and power supplies. Responsible for functionally testing electronic assemblies and mechanical assemblies to ensure quality conformance.

Job Duties:

• Board assembly programming and functional test execution.
• Failed Board circuit troubleshooting, repair and associated data collection/reporting.
• Participation with functional verification/acceptance of board & subassembly Test Fixtures.
• Operate the Flying Probe and AOI board verification test instruments.
• Recommendation of manufacturing test fixture improvements driving yield improvement.
• Identification & Communication of negative yield and repair action trends requiring analysis.
• Follow production material control and disposition methods, policies and practices.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Familiar with electronics components: resistors, capacitors, diodes, inductors, transistors, ICs, etc...
• Ability to read schematics, follow procedures and apply computer skills and knowledge to resolve technical problems.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience with detailed troubleshooting and repair of electronic circuit boards.
• Above Average aptitude in reading schematics & troubleshooting circuits: Analog, Digital, Power Supply, and High Voltage.
• Experience troubleshooting & repairing surface mount and through hole technology board assemblies.
• Skill/Experience using electronics Test & Measurement Equipment in circuit testing/troubleshooting: Flying Probe, Power Supplies, Signal Generators, Multi-Meters, O-Scopes etc.
• Solid skill in using hand tools in electronic board assembly & repair: soldering irons, solder extractors, heat guns, etc.

Education:

• Associate Degree in Electronics or at least 5 years of relevant experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office: Excel and Word.
