Job summary

OKSI is seeking an experienced Electronics Technician to perform precision assembly, rework, and test support for advanced defense electronics in an ESD-controlled lab. You’ll support the Electrical Engineering team with prototype builds, first articles, and board bring-up, with secondary support during production campaigns.

You will use SMT and through-hole soldering, assemble from schematics, and troubleshoot with engineers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; technical certificate or associate degree preferred.
• 5-8 years hands-on electronics assembly, rework, and harness experience in aerospace/defense or engineering lab.
• Demonstrated SMT and through-hole soldering, assembly, and rework under magnification.
• Hands-on wire harness assembly: crimping, connector termination, routing and tie-down.
• Experience with box builds or higher-level assemblies from drawings and work instructions.
• Proficient with hand tools, crimpers, torque tools, soldering/rework equipment.
• ESD-controlled environments familiarity; basic troubleshooting and wiring diagrams reading.
• IPC J-STD-001 and IPC-7711/7721 certification required within 6 months; OKSI funds onsite training.

Responsibilities

• Perform SMT and through-hole soldering, assembly, and rework of PCAs with fine-pitch work under magnification.
• Build engineering prototypes and first articles from schematics and drawings.
• Support board bring-up and debug with engineers using multimeters, power supplies, and oscilloscopes.
• Fabricate and terminate wire harnesses and cable assemblies; labeling and testing continuity.
• Assemble enclosures and PCBA installations; final inspection.
• Support LRIP and rate builds with assembly, rework, test-station operation, and troubleshooting.
• Follow work instructions, document changes, and assist ECO implementation.
• Maintain ESD-controlled work areas and tracking calibration records.
