Job summary

Lynker is seeking an Electronics Technician Maintenance II Lab to support NDBC weather/ocean observations and related data systems. You will perform bench testing, diagnostics, and repairs on marine electronics, calibration of data acquisition systems, and guide less experienced technicians in a team setting.

The ideal candidate has 4+ years in marine electrical/electronic maintenance, knowledge of SMD repairs, and the ability to read schematics with a hands-on approach to problem solving.

Qualifications

  • At least 4 years of maintenance, repair, test, and modification of marine electrical/electronics systems.
  • Ability to operate and calibrate data acquisition systems and precision bench instruments.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and lead a small team.
  • Experience with SMD repairs and IC replacement; adept at reading schematics.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, bench test, diagnose, troubleshoot and repair electronic line replaceable units and processing systems.
  • Use lab equipment to test environmental monitoring sensors and data-collection systems.
  • Follow procedures and schematics to ensure quality and timely completion.
  • Lead tasks with independent responsibility under time constraints and established policies.

With a commitment to excellence and a passion for innovation, Lynker leverages cutting-edge technologies and scientific expertise to support the creation and delivery of improved operational weather forecasts.As part of our ongoing growth and expansion, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced Electronics Technician Maintenance II Lab (ETM II Lab) to assist Lynker in supporting the National Data Buoy Center,(NDBC) to provide quality meteorological and oceanographic observations in the marine environment to support predictions of changes in ocean and coastal weather to enhance Maritime Safety. NDBC designs, engineers, fabricates/integrates, tests, deploys, maintains/repairs 4 worldwide buoy systems including Weather Buoy Stations, Coastal Observation (C-MAN) stations, Tropical Atmosphere-Ocean Array (TAO) systems, and Deep-Ocean Assessment and Reporting of Tsunami (DART) stations. The program also performs data analysis/storage/dissemination (via website/other means) of related weather andenvironmental data from these systems (25%) and other sources (75%) of in-situ weatherdata, Logistics, Information Technology/Data Administration, and Programming

Responsibilities

Duties of the Electronics Technician Maintenance II (ETM II Lab) will include but not limited to the following:

  • Electronic component level assembly, bench testing, diagnostics, troubleshooting and/or repair of electronic Line Replaceable Units and processing systems that require the application of a considerable number of different basic but established methods, procedures, and techniques
  • Perform duties in an electronics laboratory environment using bench type electronic testing equipment.
  • Conducting test and troubleshooting down to the component level for environmental monitoring sensors, data collection and processing systems.
  • Using oscilloscopes, Digital Volt Meter , ammeters, pulse/function generators, resistance thermometers and waveform generators.
  • Quality work following utilizing provided procedures, drawings and schematics.
  • Tasks/assignments that require independent responsibility for following procedures, redline drawings, and time constraints forcompleting assigned tasks with limited supervision to ensure conformance with established policies, procedures, progress efforts and completion deadlines.
Qualifications

The Ideal Electronics Technician Maintenance II (ETM II Lab) will have the following:

  • At least 4 Years of experience in maintenance, repair, test, and modification of marine electrical and electronics systems including analog, digital and RF Circuitry.
  • Demonstrated ability in operating, maintaining, and calibrating, micro processor based data acquisition systems, test sets, sensors, laboratory bench equipment and precision calibration electro-mechanical instruments.
  • Ability to work independently with no direct supervision.
  • Experience as a team leader.
  • Knowledge and skill of SMD repairs and IC replacement.
  • Training/experience in ESD awareness/precautions and proficiency in reading electronic schematics.
  • Demonstrated ability in operating, maintaining, and calibrating, microprocessor based data acquisition systems, test sets, sensors, laboratory bench equipment and precision calibration electro-mechanical instruments.
  • Education: AS/AAS Electronics, Instrumentation, Engineering Technologyor related field
