Job summary

Lynker seeks an Engineering Technician II (Lab) to support the National Data Buoy Center (NDBC) with quality meteorological and oceanographic observations and testing of electronic systems. The role involves bench testing, diagnostics, and repair of environmental monitoring equipment in a labs environment.

Ideal candidates will have electronics education (AS/AAS) and hands-on experience with test equipment, sensors, and data acquisition.

Qualifications

  • Entry Level - Training or experience in maintenance, repair, test and modification of electrical and electronics systems.
  • Familiarity with maintenance, calibration, microprocessor based data acquisition systems, test sets, sensors, laboratory bench equipment and precision calibration electro-mechanical instruments.
  • Education: AS/AAS Electronics, Instrumentation, Engineering Technology or related field.
  • Must be able to pass a government background check.

Responsibilities

  • Electronics that require the application of a considerable number of different basic but established methods, procedures, and techniques to include component level assembly, bench testing, diagnostics, troubleshooting and/or repair of electronic Line Replaceable Units and processing systems.
  • Perform duties in an electronics laboratory environment using bench type electronic testing equipment.
  • Experience conducting test and troubleshooting to the component level of environmental monitoring sensors, data collection and processing systems.
  • Experience using oscilloscopes, DVMs, amp meters, pulse/function generators, resistance thermometers and waveform generators.
  • Experience with Analog, Digital and RF Circuitry.
  • Work is expected to be consistently of good quality following provided procedures, drawings and schematics.
  • Assignments usually involve independent responsibility for following procedures, redline drawings, and time constraints for completing assigned tasks with periodic supervision to ensure conformance with established policies, procedures, progress efforts and completion deadlines.

As part of our ongoing growth and expansion, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced Engineering Technician II (Lab) to assist Lynker in supporting the National Data Buoy Center,(NDBC) to provide quality meteorological and oceanographic observations in the marine environment to support predictions of changes in ocean and coastal weather to enhance Maritime Safety. NDBC designs, engineers, fabricates/integrates, tests, deploys, maintains/repairs for worldwide buoy systems including Weather Buoy Stations, CoastalObservation (C-MAN) stations, Tropical Atmosphere-Ocean Array (TAO) systems, and Deep-Ocean Assessment and Reporting of Tsunami (DART) stations. The program also performs data analysis/storage/dissemination (via website/other means) of related weather and environmental data from these systems (25%) and other sources (75%) of in-situ weather data, Logistics, Information Technology/Data Administration, and Programming.As part of our ongoing growth and expansion, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced Engineering Technician II (Lab) to join our growing team.
