Job summary

Caswell Developmental Center in North Carolina seeks an Electronics Technician II to troubleshoot and maintain building systems, including fire alarms, building automation, CATV, and video surveillance. Responsibilities include using test equipment, documenting inspections, and supporting other trades to ensure system reliability.

The position is in the Telecommunications and Electronics Department, with a 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM schedule on weekdays and mandatory duties during adverse weather events

Qualifications

  • Experience with Andover, EcoStruxure, Invensys, Trane, Johnson Controls energy management and boiler controls systems.
  • Experience working with PLCs including programming, troubleshooting, and replacement.
  • Experience in troubleshooting, repairing, replacing, and installing Simplex fire alarm systems.
  • Familiarity with Voice and Data infrastructure, VoIP Paging, and auxiliary devices.
  • Physical Requirements: Lift 80lbs, climb ladders, crawl in spaces.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and maintain Fire Alarms, Building Automation Controls, CATV distribution, Video Surveillance and more.
  • Use test equipment and document inspections and repairs.
  • Provide technical support to other trades to ensure all systems are 100%.

Description of Work

The Electronics Technician II is responsible for the troubleshooting and maintenance of many different systems to include but not limited to: Fire Alarms, Building Automation Controls, CATV distribution, Video Surveillance, Patient Monitors, Overhead/Portable Lifts, UPS systems, and misc. electronic equipment. Utilize tools and test equipment associated with the trade. Maintain documentation of system inspections and repairs. Provide technical support to other trades as needed to ensure all systems are 100%. Position resides within the Telecommunications and Electronics department. This position is considered Essential Personnel and is subject to duties outside of their normal schedule.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Salary Range: $45, 431.00 - $79,504.00

The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs )/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:

  • Experience with Andover, EcoStruxure, Invensys, Trane, Johnson Controls, and other energy management and boiler controls systems.

This Position Is Designated As Mandatory And Must Report Or Stay Over During Adverse Weather Events.

Work Hours: 7 AM - 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, and as needed.

Eligibility for Sign-on Bonus

To qualify for the Sign-on Bonus, a newly hired permanent full-time or permanent part-time employee must work 30 to 40 hours per week to be eligible. Those who are eligible and working less than 40 hours a week will receive a prorated rate.

  • An employee has held a position in the North Carolina State government, including the judicial system, or the University of North Carolina system, within the last 12 months (the employee shall remain ineligible for 12 months from the separation date)
  • The employee has previously received a sign-on bonus from any State agency
  • DHHS has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees.

All Sign-on Bonuses are contingent upon budget and final eligibility determination as of the effective date of hire.
