Job summary

United Felts, Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Technician to install, maintain, and troubleshoot electronic systems and PLCs, with hands-on ability to program and service programmable logic controllers and VFDs.

The role supports multiple manufacturing areas, conducts preventive maintenance, and maintains records while following OSHA safety requirements and company policies. A technical background and reliability are essential for fast-paced production environments.

Qualifications

• Must possess basic math skills.
• Ability to read and understand work instructions, drawings, and specifications.
• GED/High School Diploma is required.
• Associate’s degree, certificate from college, trade school or accredited apprenticeship program or the equivalent in a technical field is required.

Responsibilities

• Assists in troubleshooting and repairs mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical/electronic equipment including programmable logic controllers, temperature controllers, power supplies, VFD’s and test equipment.
• Assists in repairs or adjustments to all machinery in manufacturing area.
• Conduct occasional facility maintenance, service, and repairs in the areas of dock doors, plumbing, and carpentry.
• Performs work requiring knowledge of electrical/electronic and mechanical theories and principles, writing specifications, electrical codes, materials properties, and operation principles of electronic equipment.
• Installs, starts up, and shuts down equipment per safety procedures and OSHA requirements.
• Informs management and line mechanics of potential electrical/mechanical problems and dangers.
• Maintains maintenance records for identified equipment and manages tools/spares inventories.
• Performs preventive maintenance using CMMS as directed.

Job description

Summary

Must have the ability to install, maintain, and troubleshoot electronic systems, with hands-on capability to program and service programmable logic controllers (PLCs) using digital logic. Must be able to program and troubleshoot VFD’s. Conducts, maintains, assesses, and repairs electrical/electronic, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems and components. Applies knowledge of electrical/electronics and mechanical principles in determining equipment malfunctions and applies skills in restoring equipment to operation. Provides skilled mechanical and electrical/electronic support to all areas of manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assists in troubleshooting and repairs mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical/electronic equipment including programmable logic controllers, temperature controllers, power supplies, VFD’s and test equipment.
• Assists in repairs or adjustments to all machinery in manufacturing area.
• Conduct occasional facility maintenance, service, and repairs in the areas of dock doors, plumbing, and carpentry.
• Performs work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical/electronic and mechanical theories and principles, writing specifications, local and national electrical codes, properties of various materials, and principles of operation and application of electronic equipment.
• Installs, starts up, and shuts down equipment in accordance with company safety procedures for machine activation and shutdown and in line with OSHA requirements.
• Informs appropriate management and line mechanics of potential electrical/mechanical problems and inherent dangers involved.
• Maintains company-required performance and maintenance records for identified equipment.
• Responsible for maintaining tools, spare parts, and inventories.
• Performs preventive maintenance functions as directed using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System)

• Work in a safe manner always by following company safety policies and procedures.
• Maintain a clean work environment by performing cleaning duties when required.

• Perform other related duties incidental to work described herein.

Qualifications:

• GED/High School Diploma is required.
• Associate’s degree, certificate from college, trade school or accredited apprenticeship program or the equivalent in a technical field is required.

• Exposure to moderate noise and standard factory conditions.

Physical Requirements:

• Requires full range of motion including eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity.
• Requires ability to climb in overhead structures, to work beneath machines and in close-quarters performing analysis and repair work.
• Ability to lift up to 60 pounds on a continuous basis.
