Job description

Prism Specialties is a residential and commercial specialty‑item disaster restoration company which restores electronics, art, textiles, and documents impacted by fire, flood or lightning/power surge. We are growing rapidly and are searching for additional team members. We are currently seeking a qualified Electronics/Electrical Technical Specialist to join our team.

Responsibilities

  • Shop work: testing and validating the functionality of appliances, computers, TVs, home theater equipment and other household electronics; evaluating items to determine repair or replace decisions; cleaning and final testing; wrapping items for return to the customer.

  • On‑site work: same as shop work plus driving a company vehicle; communicating with customers to keep them at ease; mapping and labeling all items’ connections so they can be reconnected; ensuring customer satisfaction, especially for computer systems and home theater setups.

  • Eventually directing developing employees and ensuring proper time management for the entire team.

Qualifications

  • Hold a valid driver’s license with a satisfactory record; ability to drive to the shop or customer’s location.

  • Ability to pass a pre‑employment drug screen, background check and DOT health screening; must be able to lift and carry over 50 pounds up and down stairways.

  • Minimum 2+ years’ experience as a technician/handyperson in any relevant field.

  • Excellent English oral and written communication skills.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Professional, neat, and clean appearance; customer‑service oriented.

  • Broad technical knowledge including cell phone repair, laptop repair, building PCs, setting up home theater systems, disconnecting, connecting, troubleshooting, testing, and cleaning appliances.

Overview

The ideal candidate is a "jack-of-all trades". If your friends and family call you when they have problems, you are probably a perfect fit for this job. Legacy knowledge is just as important as the latest technology as many customers’ items are not up to date. Computer, appliance and television technicians should apply. Applicants with restoration industry experience should apply. The right applicant will be trained in the areas they are less experienced in.

This position is being offered as both part‑time and full‑time. Hours and pay will be based on experience.
