Job summary

FALCATA is seeking an Electronics Rework Technician at our Huntsville, AL Discovery location to support our production division. The role involves basic and intricate electronic/electro-mechanical assembly, inspection, and rework of PCBs, following military or client specifications and IPC standards.

You will read wiring lists and schematics, use soldering equipment, document rework, and collaborate with engineers and production staff to improve processes.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and 2+ years of relevant experience.
• Preferred additional technical education or certification in electronics.
• Proven experience as an electronics technician, preferably in a rework or repair capacity.
• Proficiency in soldering techniques, including through-hole and surface mount soldering.
• Familiarity with electronic testing equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and function generators.
• Strong understanding of electronic components, PCB layouts, and schematic diagrams.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
• Excellent hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills for precise component manipulation.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high‑quality work.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues independently.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Currently or previously held IPC - 610, J-STD, IPC-7711/7721, IPC-620 certifications applied in electronics industry.

Responsibilities

• Inspect electronic assemblies and components to identify defects or issues.
• Use soldering irons, hot-air rework stations, and other tools to remove and replace defective components.
• Perform rework and modifications on printed circuit boards (PCBs) and assemblies according to engineering instructions and specifications.
• Ensure compliance with quality standards and IPC-A-610 criteria for soldering and assembly.
• Perform visual inspections and use magnification equipment to verify the quality of solder joints and component placement.
• Troubleshoot electronic assemblies to identify root causes of failures and implement appropriate corrective actions.
• Document rework activities, including component replacements, modifications, and test results.
• Collaborate with engineers and production personnel to resolve technical issues and improve manufacturing processes.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of work area and equipment.
• Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
