Job summary

Electronic Theatre Controls (ETC) in Burbank, CA is seeking a detail-oriented Electronics Repair Technician to repair ETC’s product lines—from lighting fixtures to lighting controls. The role requires troubleshooting from system-level to component-level and documented solutions.

Qualified candidates have an Associate’s Degree in Electronics or 4+ years of related experience, strong problem-solving, and the ability to work both independently and with a team.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, or 4 years of comparable experience.
• 0-3 years of job-related experience or computer and service knowledge
• Experience in a team environment
• Experience with problem tracking tools
• Knowledge of production and quality procedures
• Able to read prints, schematics, and use electronic theory to troubleshoot and repair electronic systems
• Able to use hand tools, small power tools, and test/troubleshooting equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, etc.)
• Problem solving and creative thinking skills, with attention to detail
• Good computer skills
• Able to work independently and a team environment
• Able to communicate information both verbally and written in a clear and concise manner

Responsibilities

• Repair of customer, loaner & sales demo equipment
• Repair equipment from system level to component level (including thru-hole and SMT)
• Ensures customer units are repaired within two weeks.
• Ensures units are not returned for repair of the same problem
• Completes Repair portion of the RMA process, detailing problems observed and corrected, logging time and materials used, and providing warranty info when unit is ready to ship
• Completes Engineering Change Request forms and forwards to Manufacturing Engineering when appropriate
• Applies Engineering Change Notices (ECN’s), as needed
• Works collaboratively with other technicians and other teams to ensure customer satisfaction
• Maintains and tests parts and assemblies
• Ensures PCBs tested in Repair Department are burned in and completely tested
• Ensures untested PCBs are not used or shipped
• Orders parts when quantity hits reorder point
• Maintains a clean, organized and safe work environment
• Ensures soldering and other power tools are maintained and returned
• Ensures proper Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) equipment is worn when working with equipment
• Other tasks as assigned
• Special projects and requests are completed in a timely and positive fashion
