Job summary

Los Alamos National Laboratory is seeking an Electronics Technician for the ISR Space Instrument Realization Group in Los Alamos, NM. The role supports the XAPS project by assembling, testing, and verifying electronic assemblies used in space-flight instruments critical to national security.

The position emphasizes collaboration, problem-solving, and strict adherence to safety and security standards while working with a team of technicians, engineers, and scientists in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, interpret and apply engineering procedures, drawings and layouts.
• Experience using electronics bench test equipment, measurement tools and lab instrumentation.
• Commitment to safety, security and quality in a national security environment.

Responsibilities

• Interpret electrical schematics to calibrate and test complex circuits at the component level.
• Use multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, function generators and other test equipment for electronics integration and testing.
• Assemble, test and modify electrical and mechanical assemblies and systems.
• Generate test documentation and perform in-process inspections to ensure performance and quality requirements are met.
• Collaborate with team members to identify problems and implement solutions.
• Create CAD drawings of assemblies and schematics and maintain documentation.
• Solder or assemble electronic components, connectors and wiring.
• Adhere to safety and security policies in all tasks.
