Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories seeks an Electronic Fabrication Trades Apprentice to plan, fabricate, troubleshoot, and QA/test a range of electronic/electromechanical components in a prototyping environment. You will gain hands-on training in soldering, cables, harnesses, PCBs, chassis, and rack systems while advancing fabrication proficiency.

The role emphasizes design collaboration, adherence to IPC standards, and safety, with potential DOE Q clearance eligibility.

Qualifications

• AAS in Electronics Technology or Electronics Engineering Technology with GPA 3.0+ OR 4 years of hands-on relevant work history.
• Designing and developing electromechanical drawings using CAD and other computer tools.
• Planning, scheduling and fabricating cables/harnesses, chassis, and providing QA/testing of completed units.
• Consult and collaborate with Management, Mentors and engineers on fabrication issues.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain IPC fabrication standards and safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Plan, fabricate, modify, troubleshoot, repair, and QA/testing of electronic/electro-mechanical components.
• Develop electromechanical drawings using CAD software.
• Plan and fabricate cables/harnesses, chassis, and perform QA/testing of units.
• Collaborate with engineers and managers as a fabrication resource.
• Adhere to IPC fabrication standards and safety practices.
