Job summary

X4 Technology is seeking an Electronics Components Engineer (Obsolescence) to support long-term product life by identifying replacement components, ensuring compliance, and aiding engineering teams working on safety-critical systems. This contract or permanent role offers exposure to aerospace/defense-grade environments and close collaboration with design, procurement, and quality teams.

Qualifications

Proven experience in electronic component obsolescence and lifecycle management.
Strong knowledge of electronic components and equivalent part selection.
Experience reviewing technical data sheets, compliance standards, and approved component lists.
An understanding of safety-critical engineering environments.
Experience within aerospace, defence, avionics, or other highly regulated industries would be highly advantageous.

Responsibilities

Manage electronic component obsolescence and identify suitable alternative parts.
Assess replacement components against technical requirements and approved parts lists.
Review manufacturer data sheets and technical documentation.
Ensure components meet compliance and safety-critical requirements.
Support engineering teams with component selection, qualification, and lifecycle management.
Work closely with design, procurement, and quality teams to minimise the impact of obsolete components.
