Job summary

CACI is seeking an Electronics Component Engineer to manage BOMs across multiple product lines and ensure component availability throughout lifecycles. You will make critical decisions on authenticity and sourcing strategies, while collaborating with design, quality, procurement, and manufacturing teams.

The role requires a strong electrical engineering background and experience with component databases, PLM systems, and BOM management. Up to 10% travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related technical field.
• 2–8+ years in component engineering, hardware design, product development, or lifecycle management.
• Strong knowledge of electronic components (semiconductors, passives, connectors, electromechanical parts).
• Proficiency with PLM systems, CAD tools, and BOM management tools.
• Familiarity with component databases (IHS, SiliconExpert, Z2Data).
• Knowledge of IPC, MIL-STDs, JEDEC, RoHS, REACH.
• Understanding of counterfeit detection methods and standards (AS6081, AS6171, SAE G-19A).

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with design engineering and contract manufacturers to implement component changes.
• Manage counterfeit testing programs at independent test facilities and determine authenticity.
• Maintain AVL and ACL in PLM systems and reduce single-source risks.
• Investigate component failures and coordinate root-cause analyses with suppliers.
• Ensure RoHS, REACH, conflict minerals, and export control compliance.
• Support supplier quality investigations and audits.
• Partner with design, quality, procurement, and manufacturing teams.
• Communicate component risks and mitigation strategies to stakeholders.
• Support new product introductions with component selection guidance.

We are seeking an Electronics Component Engineer to manage BOMs across multiple product lines, ensure component availability throughout product lifecycles, and make critical decisions regarding component authenticity and sourcing strategies. The ideal candidate will have a strong electrical engineering background with understanding of mechanical engineering principles.

Responsibilities:

Component Management

• Manage and maintain bills of materials (BOMs) for multiple product lines
• Support design teams in selecting reliable, cost-effective components
• Test and qualify new components to verify performance, environmental, and electrical requirements
• Read and interpret schematics, datasheets, and BOMs with high accuracy

Lifecycle & Obsolescence Management

• Monitor component lifecycles and proactively identify end-of-life (EOL) parts
• Research and recommend alternative components before shortages impact production
• Analyze forecasts and make data-driven recommendations for lifetime buy quantities
• Coordinate with design engineering and contract manufacturers to implement component changes

Counterfeit Component Management

• Manage counterfeit testing programs at independent test facilities
• Review and analyze test results (physical inspection, X-ray, decapsulation, electrical testing)
• Make authoritative determinations on component authenticity based on test data
• Implement corrective actions when counterfeit components are identified

Supply Chain & Database Management

• Maintain approved vendor lists (AVL) and approved component lists (ACL) in PLM systems
• Work with procurement to reduce single-source risks
• Track and manage lifetime buy inventory

Quality & Compliance

• Investigate component failures and coordinate root-cause analysis with suppliers
• Verify compliance with RoHS, REACH, conflict minerals, and export control regulations
• Support supplier quality investigations and audits

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner with design, quality, procurement, and manufacturing teams
• Communicate component risks and mitigation strategies to stakeholders
• Support new product introductions with component selection guidance

Qualifications:

Required:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related technical field
• Experience: 2-8+ years in component engineering, hardware design, product development, or lifecycle management

Technical Skills:
