Job summary

RTX is seeking a Systems Engineer for the Advanced Airborne RF Sensors team in the Space and Airborne Systems Engineering and Test Capability Center. This onsite role is based in Atlanta, GA, and requires U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain a Secret clearance.

You will develop signal processing solutions, design and test algorithms, and support integration and field testing, delivering detailed evaluations and stakeholder briefings throughout the product lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • Degree in STEM with 2 years of electronics troubleshooting experience.
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain Secret clearance.
  • Experience with oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers.
  • C/C++/C# experience preferred.
  • Experience with MATLAB or Python for data analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Develop signal processing solutions for complex challenges in RF sensing.
  • Create or modify electronic warfare signal processing and control algorithms.
  • Develop test plans, simulations, and lab tests to verify system capability.
  • Evaluate performance of developmental RF systems and firmware algorithms.
  • Support Integration, Verification, or Troubleshoot Test activities in labs and the field.
  • Provide guidance to IPTLs and present results to stakeholders.

Job description

Position Summary

Systems Engineer in the Advanced Airborne RF Sensors department within the Space and Airborne Systems Engineering and Test Capability (SE&TC) Center. This onsite role is located in Atlanta, Georgia. Candidates must be U.S. citizens and able to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued Secret clearance.

What You Will Do
  • Develop innovative solutions to complex technical challenges in signal processing design.
  • Create or modify existing electronic warfare signal processing and control algorithms.
  • Develop and execute test plans, including test simulations and lab tests to verify system capability.
  • Evaluate and assess functional performance of developmental RF systems, including signal processing subsystems and firmware/control algorithms.
  • Support planning and execution of Integration, Verification, or Troubleshoot Test activities in labs and in the field.
  • Support troubleshooting and failure data analyses, including root cause and corrective action processes and advanced use of lab or field test equipment.
  • Complete and compile detailed performance evaluations, including the use of analysis tools such as MATLAB.
  • Prepare and present results in reports and briefings to internal or external stakeholders.
  • Maintain engineering specifications and drawings.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to Engineering Integrated Product Team Leads (IPTLs).
  • Participate in periodic team meetings, interface teleconference meetings, and working group meetings.
  • Support implementation of process requirements.
What You Will Learn

After completion of comprehensive on‑the‑job training, you will be part of a team supporting systems engineering, integration, and test activities across the product development lifecycle.

Qualifications – Must Have
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline with a preference for Computer Science or Physics, and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience troubleshooting technical issues with electronics in academic or internship settings, including the use of commercial test equipment such as oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued Secret clearance prior to the start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications – Preferred
  • Advanced degree in STEM disciplines, preferably Physics or Computer Science.
  • Experience in RF system design, digital and analog signal processing, waveform and signal modulation characteristics and analysis, and/or algorithm implementation and testing.
  • Experience with electrical schematics, interface control documentation, and communications protocols.
  • Experience integrating software and firmware onto electronic hardware systems.
  • Experience with reading and integrating software routines with hardware/electronics; C/C++/C# preferred.
  • Experience with tools such as Microsoft Office, MATLAB, or Python for data analysis and automation.

Salary range: USD 68,900 – 131,100.
