Job summary

Newark Public Schools seeks an Electronic Systems Technician 2 for the Office of Safety & Security. The role covers installation, testing, maintenance, and repair of electrical and electronic equipment under Civil Service guidelines.

The candidate should have vocational/technical training in electrical/electronic technology and at least two years of relevant experience. A driver’s license may be required for certain duties.

Qualifications

• Completion of a vocational, technical or specialized training program in electrical or electronic technology.
• Two (2) years of experience in installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical or electronic components, equipment or systems.

Responsibilities

• Advises, instructs, and assists lower-level technicians in resolving complex problems.
• Installs wiring systems and electrical components.
• Inspects wiring, electrical components, meters, and computer board components for proper installation.
• Tests and troubleshoots electrical components and systems including audiovisual and security alarm systems.
• Reads schematics and codes information for data entry and data verification.
