Job summary

United Security & Communications, Inc. is seeking an Electronic Security Technician to install, maintain, and troubleshoot commercial and residential security systems.

You will run service calls and installs from Linthicum or Lothian, interacting with customers and delivering top-tier service. Responsibilities include wiring, panel programming, IP networking, and equipment troubleshooting, while following NEC guidelines and safety standards.

Qualifications

• 3+ years installing and servicing commercial security systems.
• Knowledge of alarm, access control, CCTV, sensors, and low-voltage wiring.
• Experience troubleshooting IP cameras, sensors, IDS, and cabling.
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and electrical drawings.
• Understanding NEC compliance and low-voltage standards.
• Strong customer communication and on-site professionalism.
• Proficiency with IP networking, switches, PoE, and remote access tools.
• Experience with security platforms such as DMP, Honeywell, DSC, Avigilon, Axis, Milestone, Lenel.
• Maryland Security Systems Technician registration or ability to obtain.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and test IDS, access control, CCTV, and sensors.
• Program alarm panels, keypads, and communicators; coordinate with central stations.
• Configure IP cameras, NVRs, and VMS software; troubleshoot on-site.
• Install card readers, controllers, and locking hardware; maintain documentation.
• Troubleshoot network issues on IP devices and interpret electrical schematics.
• Pull and test low-voltage cabling; perform preventive maintenance.
• Provide on-site customer service and remote diagnostics when needed.
• Ensure safety standards and NEC guidelines are followed.
