Job summary

MidPoint Technology Group is seeking an Electronic Security Field Engineer to design, install, maintain, and troubleshoot CCTV, alarm, access control, sensors, and surveillance systems across client sites. The role involves 25-30% travel and hands-on work with state-of-the-art equipment, collaborating with clients to tailor security solutions.

You will diagnose issues, configure systems, and provide detailed documentation while supporting ongoing security infrastructure improvements.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of electronic security system installation experience in new construction environments.
• Proven experience as a service technician or field engineer specializing in electronic security systems.
• Strong mechanical knowledge combined with electrical experience for installation and troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with CCTV cameras, intrusion detection, fire alarms, access control, and surveillance tech.
• Knowledge of NEC standards for low voltage wiring and electrical safety.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with remote or on-site diagnostics.

Responsibilities:

• Install, configure, and commission electronic security systems including CCTV cameras, intrusion detection systems (IDS), fire alarms, access control panels, and surveillance equipment.
• Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshooting of low voltage electrical systems, cabling networks, sensors, and related hardware to ensure optimal operation.
• Interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals to accurately install and repair complex security system components.
• Utilize hand tools and power tools safely to perform system upgrades or repairs on construction sites or existing facilities.
• Provide on-site service support by diagnosing issues with computer networking, telecommunication lines, remote access software, and system design flaws.
• Collaborate with clients to understand their security needs; assist in alarm system sales by explaining features and benefits of various solutions.
• Document all service activities thoroughly through detailed reports, logs, and incident documentation for future reference and compliance purposes.

• Ability to use hand tools such as screwdrivers, wire strippers, crimpers as well as power tools like drills and saws safely and efficiently.
• Knowledge of NEC (National Electrical Code) standards relevant to low voltage wiring and electrical safety protocols.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose issues remotely via access software or on-site inspections.
• Construction experience or familiarity with building processes is a plus; locksmithing skills are advantageous but not required.
• Strong communication skills for working directly with clients and team members while providing clear technical guidance.
