Job summary

Phillips Exeter Academy is seeking an Electronic Resources and Systems Librarian to lead access to the library's electronic resources, including ebooks, databases and ejournals. Description

STATUS/HOURS: This is a full-time, 12 month position, 40 hours/week, one evening per week, Saturday and Sunday hours on a rotating basis. Schedule may vary according to departmental and Academy needs.

COMPENSATION: $90,000-$94,500 anual salary. Compensation is based on relevant education and experience and will be set within the listed range.

Position Purpose

Responsible for leading and overseeing access to and management of the library's electronic resources (eresources). Collaborates with colleagues in providing and promoting information services for students and employees. Coordinates and plans for technology in the library, including training of library staff and implementation of emerging technologies.

Job Responsibilities
  • Maintain the library's growing collection of electronic resources including but not limited to: ebooks, databases, and ejournals. Coordinates the selection, acquisition and maintenance of eresources to support the entire lifecycle of this content. Negotiate licensing terms with vendors; liaise with vendors regarding access, record sets, and patron data.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to manage the library's integrated library system (currently OCLC WMS) and other discovery, access, and productivity platforms and systems. Research, propose, and implement configuration recommendations for discovery systems to enhance user experience and ensure availability.
  • Manage the functionality and development of the library website, collaborating with colleagues to ensure accurate content, overall user satisfaction, and coordination with the communications department.
  • Participate as a member of the library instructional program to support research skills and information literacy. Serves as a liaison librarian, ideally for the Science and Math departments. Provides research assistance and reference services in a variety of formats to the Academy community and members of the general public.
  • Train library staff in new and existing systems. Be a technical support resource for library staff and patrons. Collaborate with the Center for Archives and Special Collections to support their digital platforms (e.g. ArchiveSpace, TIND).
  • Interact and collaborate with ITS and serve as a departmental point-person for IT issues, data loads, and products, including authentication tools. May be involved in the selection and implementation of new platforms and software for library departments. Assist in technology project planning and management, including input on resource allocation related to library systems.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and provide vision to help shape future use of technology and implement new technology as needed, including AI.
  • Keep ongoing document of projects, processes and procedures. Provide data analysis and usage statistics.

Requirements

Education

  • Master's degree in Library Science preferred.

Experience

  • 3 - 5 years' relevant experience.
  • Familiarity with integrated library systems, OCLC products, html coding, and CSS.
  • Familiarity with Springshare products, such as LibGuides CMS, LibAnswers, LibCal.
  • Experience working with adolescents in an educational setting preferred.
Additional Requirements
  • Successfully complete a criminal background check (reviewed every 5 years).
  • Clean Driving record (reviewed annually)
