Job summary

The Chronicle of Higher Education, Inc. seeks a librarian to lead access to the library's electronic resources and oversee eresource management on campus. You will collaborate with colleagues, manage licenses, and support student and staff information needs.

Job description

STATUS/HOURS:

This is a full-time, 12 month position, 40hours/week, one evening per week, Saturday and Sunday hours on arotating basis. Schedule may vary according to departmental andAcademy needs.


COMPENSATION:

$90,000-$94,500 anual salary. Compensation isbased on relevant education and experience and will be set withinthe listed range.

POSITION PURPOSE

Responsible for leading and overseeing access to and management ofthe library's electronic resources (eresources). Collaborates withcolleagues in providing and promoting information services forstudents and employees. Coordinates and plans for technology in thelibrary, including training of library staff and implementation ofemerging technologies.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Maintain the library's growing collection of electronicresources including but not limited to: ebooks, databases, andejournals. Coordinates the selection, acquisition and maintenanceof eresources to support the entire lifecycle of this content.Negotiate licensing terms with vendors; liaise with vendorsregarding access, record sets, and patron data.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to manage the library’s integratedlibrary system (currently OCLC WMS) and other discovery, access,and productivity platforms and systems. Research, propose, andimplement configuration recommendations for discovery systems toenhance user experience and ensure availability.

  • Manage the functionality and development of the librarywebsite, collaborating with colleagues to ensure accurate content,overall user satisfaction, and coordination with the communicationsdepartment.

  • Participate as a member of the library instructional program tosupport research skills and information literacy. Serves as aliaison librarian, ideally for the Science and Math departments.Provides research assistance and reference services in a variety offormats to the Academy community and members of the generalpublic.

  • Train library staff in new and existing systems. Be a technicalsupport resource for library staff and patrons. Collaborate withthe Center for Archives and Special Collections to support theirdigital platforms (e.g. ArchiveSpace, TIND).

  • Interact and collaborate with ITS and serve as a departmentalpoint-person for IT issues, data loads, and products, includingauthentication tools. May be involved in the selection andimplementation of new platforms and software for librarydepartments. Assist in technology project planning and management,including input on resource allocation related to librarysystems.

  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and provide vision tohelp shape future use of technology and implement new technology asneeded, including AI.

  • Keep ongoing document of projects, processes and procedures.Provide data analysis and usage statistics.

EDUCATION


  • Master's degree in Library Science preferred.


EXPERIENCE


  • 3 - 5 years' relevant experience.

  • Familiarity with integrated library systems, OCLC products,html coding, and CSS.

  • Familiarity with Springshare products, such as LibGuides CMS,LibAnswers, LibCal.

  • Experience working with adolescents in an educational settingpreferred.


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS


  • Successfully complete a criminal background check (reviewedevery 5 years).

  • Clean Driving record (reviewed annually)
