Job summary

The Cardiac and Vascular Institute in Gainesville, FL seeks a Medical Records Technician to maintain and secure patient health records in our EMR system. You will file, update and retrieve records while coordinating with patients and referring providers to ensure accuracy and timely access.

Minimal post-secondary education; minimum two years in an office setting and one year in medical records preferred. EMR experience is a plus and confidentiality is essential.

Qualifications

• High school degree or equivalent.
• Minimum of two years office experience; one year medical records experience.
• EMR system experience not required but preferred.

Responsibilities

• Store, access, request and update patients’ health records electronically.
• File medical histories and other information electronically in patient charts.
• Communicate with patients and referring provider offices to accomplish tasks.
• Enter chart information into EMR system.
• Locate and send electronic records to requesting physicians/departments.
• Use computer to track chart inquiries and access other pertinent information.
• Other duties as assigned.
