Job summary

SEPTA seeks an Electronics Lab Tech to service mechanical, electro-mechanical and electronic instrumentation in a busy transit environment. You will work on measuring electrical values and calibrating equipment, ensuring accurate lab readings and safe operations across the fleet.

Qualifications include a high school diploma and 2 years of electro-mechanical training, plus a PA driver’s license and successful pre-employment testing.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent with 2 years of Electro-Mechanical training or equivalent.
  • Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license or equivalent.
  • Must pass pre-employment written test at SEPTA's Test Center.

Responsibilities

  • Service mechanical, electro-mechanical and electronic instrumentation to measure values like voltage and current.
  • Service energy sources and power supplies.
  • Develop blueprints, wiring diagrams and schematics.
  • Calibrate meters with a lab meter calibrator traceable to standards.
  • Follow safety policies and report hazards to protect operations and staff.

OVERALL DESCRIPTION

Services mechanical, electro-mechanical and electronic instrumentation.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Services mechanical, electro-mechanical and electronic instrumentation for the purpose of measuring physical and electronic values or quantities, voltage, current, frequency, etc.
  • Services combinations of energy sources and power supplies.
  • Responsible for developing various blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
  • Services various meters and devices with prime standards using the electric lab meter calibrator that is traceable to the “National Bureau of Standards.”
  • Complies with all Authority and departmental safety and security policies and procedures as well as all applicable job safety responsibilities. Reports any safety concerns, compromises or hazards affecting operations, the public, self and/or other employees. Responsible for personal safety and is encouraged to promote the safety of others.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
  • High school graduate or equivalent, with 2 years of Electro-Mechanical technical school or equivalent level of work experience.
  • Must have valid Pennsylvania driver's license or equivalent.
  • Must pass pre-employment written test at SEPTA's Test Center.
