Job summary

Badger Meter is seeking an Electronic Controls Technician II in Melbourne, FL to design control panel diagrams, test panels, and perform complex field installations and troubleshooting. This role requires strong understanding of control systems, PLC integration, and electrical diagnostics.

An associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology and 3+ years of experience are preferred. Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical, PLCs, instrumentation, and reading detailed schematics is expected.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in control systems or electrical installation.
  • Experience with water treatment or industrial automation is a plus.
  • Proficiency with electrical design software and reading schematics.

Responsibilities

  • Create electrical drawings and wiring diagrams for control panels.
  • Submit drawing packages for panel fabrication.
  • Test completed control panels for functionality and compliance.
  • Install and integrate control panels in the field, including conduit and terminal blocks.
  • Connect and configure PLCs, pumps, and instrumentation.
  • Troubleshoot complex field issues when remote support is insufficient.
  • Collaborate with product development on new product launches.

What You Will Contribute:

The Electronic Controls Technician II (ECT II) is responsible for designing control panel diagrams, testing completed panels, and performing complex field installations and troubleshooting. This role requires a strong understanding of control systems, PLC integration, and electrical diagnostics.

Job Duties:
  • Create electrical drawings and wiring diagrams for control panels.
  • Submit drawing packages for panel fabrication.
  • Test completed control panels to ensure functionality and compliance.
  • Install and integrate control panels in the field, including conduit and terminal block wiring.
  • Connect and configure PLCs, pumps, and instrumentation.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues in the field when remote support is insufficient.
  • Collaborate with product development teams on new product launches.
  • Up to 70% travel required.
Education and Experience:

Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or related field preferred. 3+ years of experience in control systems or electrical installation; Experience with water treatment or industrial automation systems is a plus.

Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical).
  • Strong knowledge of PLCs, instrumentation, and control systems.
  • Ability to read and create detailed electrical schematics.
  • Skilled in field wiring, conduit installation, and voltage/signal testing.
  • Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to work independently and travel to field sites.
