Description

Tucson, AZ (Onsite) | Aerospace & Avionics
9/80 Schedule Available – Every Other Friday Off

Build the Electronics Behind Advanced Avionics Technology

Precision matters when you're building electronics designed for aviation. At Universal Avionics, our manufacturing teams turn sophisticated engineering designs into high-reliability electronic products used in demanding aerospace environments. We're looking for an Electronic Assembler I – SMT/Setup who enjoys hands‑on technical work, takes pride in quality, and wants to develop valuable electronics manufacturing skills.

Whether you already have SMT experience or are ready to grow your skills in high-reliability electronics manufacturing, this is an opportunity to contribute to products where quality and attention to detail truly matter.

The Opportunity

At Universal Avionics, we develop advanced avionics, enhanced vision systems, and intelligent cockpit technologies that improve aviation safety and situational awareness worldwide.

For more than 40 years, Universal Avionics has been a trusted innovator in aerospace technology, supporting commercial airlines, business aviation, cargo operations, and special mission aircraft around the globe. As part of Elbit Systems, we combine a collaborative, hands‑on culture with the resources and global reach of a leading aerospace and defense company.

As an Electronic Assembler I – SMT/Setup, you'll work directly with Surface Mount Technology (SMT) equipment used to manufacture electronic assemblies for our avionics products. You'll prepare components and equipment, support product changeovers, monitor production, and help ensure every assembly meets our high standards for quality and workmanship.

You'll also work closely with Production, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and Materials, giving you exposure to the broader manufacturing process and opportunities to expand your technical skills.

What You’ll Do
  • Set up and operate SMT equipment used to manufacture high-reliability electronic assemblies
  • Prepare feeders, component reels, trays, and materials to keep production running efficiently

  • Verify electronic components, orientation, quantities, and placement against manufacturing documentation
  • Perform visual inspections to help ensure assemblies meet workmanship and quality requirements
  • Complete routine equipment checks and basic troubleshooting following established procedures
  • Maintain accurate production records and material traceability throughout the manufacturing process
  • Partner with Manufacturing Engineering and Quality on equipment setup, troubleshooting, prototypes, and process improvements
