Job description

Description
Summary

Follow established processes to design, modify, and evaluate components or circuitry used in electronic avionics equipment and devices. Analyze equipment and conduct experimental tests to confirm operational requirements are met and to establish conformity to applicable standards. Responsible for the full life cycle of the product and is expected to operate with general direction and minimal direct supervision to handle complex electrical engineering assignments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Leads and/or supports design activities or estimates for innovative new products while following established development processes and procedures.
  • Leads sustaining engineering activities and failure investigations providing technical direction, coordination, and structured oversight of sustaining efforts across the Electrical Engineering department.
  • Works effectively with members of a multidiscipline product development team including Mechanical, Test, Reliability, Systems, Safety, Software, and Verification Engineering,
  • Completes conceptual designs and trade studies to define design re-use in potential new products and assess the feasibility of meeting new requirements.
  • Completes high reliability focused detailed designs that incorporate design for test considerations and parts derating criteria to meet the functional and performance requirements of safety critical designs.
  • Develops circuit card hardware requirements, design documentation, schematics, block diagrams, board-level test procedures and power estimates for circuit card designs.
  • Prepares and leads circuit card design reviews.
  • Works closely with and provides direction to PCB Designers in the layout of boards ranging from 8 to 16 Layers of complexity.
  • Engages in hardware test debug, integration, qualification, and verification activities.
  • May support ROM estimates for business proposals.

Education and/or Experience
Degreed
  • Bachelor’s (or Master’s) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or Bachelor’s (or Master’s) degree in Physics or Mathematics with knowledge of, and experience with hardware development that is commensurate with the skills listed below.
  • Five or more years of experience in hardware development.
Non-Degreed
  • Ten or more years professional work experience with knowledge of, and experience with, hardware development that is commensurate with the skills listed below.
