Electrical Maintenance Mechanic – Charter Wire

Position Details

Location: Charter Wire – 7850 N. 81st Street, Milwaukee, WI 53222

Shift: 10:00 PM – 8:00 AM (Sunday night – Thursday morning)

Pay: $40+ based on experience + $5,000 Sign‑On Bonus

Responsibilities

• Maintain and troubleshoot electromechanical equipment using hand tools, welding equipment, and measuring devices.
• Perform preventive maintenance to reduce downtime and improve equipment reliability.
• Diagnose and resolve issues using blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives across operations.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to keep production running efficiently.
• Follow all safety procedures and properly use required PPE.
• Participate in ongoing training and skill development.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience OR technical degree in a related field OR journeyman’s card (less experience may be considered at a different level).
• Ability to read and interpret complex electrical schematics and code books.
• Strong understanding of electrical theory, controls, and codes.
• Experience with line setups, inspections, and electrical testing equipment.
• Solid math skills (fractions, percentages, measurements).
• Nice to have: experience with PLCs and drives (Allen Bradley, Siemens); knowledge of AC/DC motors, HVAC systems, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems; experience with welding/torch equipment and precision measuring tools.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Problem‑solving mindset with a willingness to learn.

Physical Requirements

• Frequent standing and walking.
• Occasional sitting, reaching, and forceful motion.
• Ability to lift up to 60 lbs regularly.
• Minimal climbing and occasional lifting over 100 lbs.
