Job summary

Charter Wire is seeking a maintenance technician to support robust electromechanical systems at our Milwaukee facility. You will maintain and troubleshoot equipment, perform preventive maintenance, and use blueprints and schematics to diagnose issues.

Join a team focused on safety, process improvements, and continuous training. The role requires strong reading of diagrams, basic math, and good communication. On-site, day shifts with rotating weekends may be involved.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Basic mechanical maintenance aptitude and math skills.
  • Ability to read and follow operating and maintenance instructions.
  • Good written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and troubleshoot electromechanical equipment using hand tools, welding equipment, and measuring devices.
  • Perform preventive maintenance to reduce downtime and ensure equipment reliability.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues using blueprints, schematics, and manuals.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support continuous improvement.
  • Follow safety protocols and PPE.
  • Support process improvements and participate in ongoing training.

Job Description

Location: Charter Wire – 3700 W Milwaukee Rd, Milwaukee, WI 53208

Shift: 6am - 6pm on a rotating 3-2-2-3 schedule (3 days working - 2 days off - 2 days working – 3 days off, giving you a 3-day weekend off every other weekend)

What You’ll Do
  • Maintain and troubleshoot electromechanical equipment using hand tools, welding equipment, and measuring devices
  • Perform preventive maintenance to reduce downtime and ensure equipment reliability
  • Diagnose and resolve issues using technical documents such as blueprints, schematics, and manuals
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support continuous improvement
  • Follow safety protocols and use appropriate PPE
  • Support process improvements and participate in ongoing training
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent. (GED Works program eligible)
  • Basic mechanical and maintenance aptitude.
  • Ability to use basic math skills.
  • Ability to read and understand and follow operating and maintenance instructions.
  • Good written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to work well with other employees.
Nice To Haves
  • Experience with PLCs and drives (Allen Bradley, Siemens)
  • Familiarity with AC/DC motors, HVAC, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems
  • Experience with welding/torch equipment and precision measuring tools
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Problem-solving mindset and eagerness to keep learning
