Job summary
The Aerospace Corporation in El Segundo, CA, is seeking an Electromechanical Controls Engineer to plan and execute technical studies in guidance, navigation, and control for spacecraft and launch systems.
The role requires a Bachelor's in STEM, 6 years of relevant experience, and hands-on expertise with control systems, inertial sensors, and electro-mechanical hardware. Some travel and TS/SCI clearance are needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in STEM.
- 6 years of applicable professional or educational experience.
- Expertise in laboratory experimentation, test strategy development, experiment design, and integration & testing.
- Experience with electronics, mechanical design, control systems, inertial sensors, and actuators for spacecraft/launch vehicles.
- Experience providing technical support in multi-program environments with customers, program offices, engineering support and contractors.
- Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink, dSPACE, LabVIEW, SolidWorks, C/C++, Python.
- Willingness to travel ~10% as required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI clearance; U.S. citizenship required.
Responsibilities
- Plan and conduct technical studies and experimental investigations for customer programs.
- Conduct experiments in Mechatronics Research Lab and other Aerospace labs; controller design and data visualization.
- Interact with government customers, program management, and contractors; communicate results clearly.
- Mentor and coach junior staff to optimize productivity and growth.
