Role Description

The Product Echem Performance team at Form Energy is looking for an Electrolyte Technician with hands‑on experience in a wet chemistry lab setting to join our team in Berkeley, CA. This role reports into our Product Echem Modeling and Chemical Engineering Manager. As part of the team, you will work closely with scientists and engineers to process electrolyte samples, execute experiments, and ensure our analytical labs operate flawlessly, in close collaboration with our electrolyte and cell engineering teams. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape and be part of the growth of a fast‑moving company with breakthrough technology and an incredible mission!

What you’ll do:
  • Collect, process, and run precise analytical characterizations on electrolyte samples.
  • Perform hands‑on maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of wet lab analytical equipment, promptly identifying and escalating anomalous results or equipment issues to engineers and scientists.
  • Draft, review, and finalize Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) centered on electrolyte process development and safe material handling.
  • Work hands‑on with the engineering team to design and execute experiments (e.g., batch mixing, solubility testing, basic formulation adjustments).
  • Maintain clear, comprehensive, and accurate logs of test data, sample metadata, batch records, and experimental findings to ensure seamless knowledge sharing across the development team.
  • Maintain wet lab spaces that are organized, clean, and strictly compliant with safety protocols at all times.
What you’ll bring:

  • Highly safety‑conscious, with training in chemical hazard assessment, waste disposal, and chemical hygiene plans; comfortable with frequent wear of required heavy PPE (chemical suits, face shields, safety glasses).
  • Proficient in operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting standard analytical chemistry instrumentation (e.g., density meters, titrators, pH meters, conductivity probes).
  • Strong written communication skills, with a proven track record of creating clear, actionable technical documentation and SOPs.
  • Extreme attention to detail and a proactive, craftsmanship‑driven approach to identifying anomalous results or equipment faults, ensuring high‑quality and repeatable work.
  • Physically able to frequently lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds, and comfortable standing for extended periods in a lab environment.
