Job summary

Medtronic Neuroscience is seeking a Materials Engineer II - Electrochemist to lead electrochemical testing and materials evaluation for active implantable medical devices at the Rice Creek campus in Minnesota.

You will perform CV, EIS, and other electrochemical assessments, analyze results, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to inform design decisions and improve device reliability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's in a technical discipline with 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Hands-on electrochemical testing in lab/research/industry.
  • Ability to interpret experimental data and communicate findings.
  • Lab environment experience and following procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Perform electrochemical testing and characterization of metals, alloys, and electrode materials using techniques such as OCP, CV, and EIS.
  • Conduct bench electrical stimulation testing for implantable medical devices.
  • Analyze corrosion behavior and degradation mechanisms to support product development.
  • Support evaluation of emerging electrode technologies and surface modification approaches.
  • Investigate device–tissue electrochemical interactions and long-term material stability.
  • Develop and execute test protocols and document findings for cross-functional teams.
  • Contribute to material selection and engineering specifications based on results.
  • Support failure analysis and life-prediction activities.
