Job summary

Textron Systems is seeking an Electro-Mechanical Technician to build and troubleshoot electro-mechanical assemblies and cable harnesses in prototype and production environments.

The role requires hands-on fabrication capability and the ability to read complex data packages, with IPC workmanship standards a plus. This position is part of the Air Systems business area and involves safe operation of hand and semi-automatic assembly tools.

Qualifications

  • Experience building electro-mechanical assemblies.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and wire diagrams.
  • Knowledge of IPC workmanship standards is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform builds of electro-mechanical assemblies, cable harnesses, and sub-systems using drawings and work instructions.
  • Assemble electronic components, such as resistors, capacitors, circuit boards, and wire harnesses.
  • Fabricate, shield, splice, terminate, and install connectors into cable harnesses.
  • Perform crimping operations using various tools and termination tooling.
  • Work with hand tools including soldering irons, wire strippers, crimpers, wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, and torque wrenches.
  • Perform soldering operations; IPC J-STD-001 knowledge is a plus.
  • Build wire harnesses and assemblies; IPC/WHMA-A-620 and IPC-A-610 knowledge are a plus.
  • Assemble by hand or with semiautomatic/automatic equipment.
  • Adhere to ESD, calibration, shelf-life, and safety procedures.
  • Operate assembly equipment and verify build quality through self-inspection.
  • Assist in the transition of new products into production.

In this role, the Electro-Mechanical Technician works independently within prototype, and production environments to build and troubleshoot simple to complex electro-mechanical assemblies and cable/wire harnesses. This role requires hands-on fabrication capability, and the ability to interpret complex technical data packages. Knowledge of IPC workmanship standards is a plus.

  • Perform builds of simple to complex electro-mechanical assemblies, cable harnesses, and sub-systems using engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, sketches, and work instructions.
  • Assemble electronic components, such as resistors, capacitors, circuit boards, and wire harnesses into larger systems.
  • Fabricate, shield, splice, terminate, and install connectors into cable harnesses.
  • Perform crimping operations using various crimp tools, tool selectors, and military/commercial-grade termination tooling.
  • Working with hand tools such as soldering irons, wire strippers, crimpers, wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, and torque wrenches
  • Perform soldering operations. Knowledge of IPC J-STD-001 a plus.
  • Build simple to complex wire harnesses. Knowledge of IPC/WHMA-A-620 a plus.
  • Build electronic assemblies. Knowledge of IPC-A-610 a plus.
