Job summary

Stanley Black & Decker is seeking a Project Engineer, Electro-mechanical in Towson for a hybrid role within the Power Tools Engineering team. You design Li-Ion battery packs, manage packaging for BMS, and drive system integration for chargers and tools.

The candidate will perform structural and thermal analyses, develop tests, and collaborate across design, manufacturing, and supply networks. Travel domestically and internationally is required.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent; M.S. preferred.
• 5–7+ years in Li-Ion battery pack development and BMS.
• Working knowledge of 3D modeling software; CATIA V5 preferred.
• Hands-on testing, data analysis, and recommendations.
• Experience with manufacturing processes for electronic products including soldering and laser welding.
• Ability to design plastic and metal components with various materials.
• Strong problem solving, communication, and project management skills.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Design Li-Ion battery packs with electronic packaging for BMS.
• Create 3D models, release drawings, manage BOMs from prototype to production.
• Collaborate with product teams on power tool system integration (chargers and tools).
• Perform structural and thermal analysis for high-power electronics.
• Coordinate with model shop and suppliers for prototypes and builds.
• Work with Industrial Design, Marketing, Manufacturing, Compliance, Safety, and Purchasing to meet CTQs.
• Develop test plans and analyze results from advanced testing.
• Support supplier development and manage changes through release processes.
