Job summary

Contech in Springfield, IL is seeking an Electro-Mechanical Technician to maintain and troubleshoot manufacturing equipment across our plastics manufacturing sites. You will diagnose outages, implement long-term fixes, and support both electrical and mechanical systems.

The role requires an Associates degree or higher and at least 5 years of manufacturing experience, with PLC and HMI programming skills, and the ability to work with up to 480V.

Qualifications

• Associates degree with focus in Electro-Mechanical Technology/Engineering Technology/Electrical Technology.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Electro-Mechanical Technician or similar in a manufacturing environment.
• Proficient in analyzing hard-wired relay control systems and modern PLC/HMI systems.
• Must safely evaluate AC and DC systems up to 480 volts.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise for timely recovery from equipment outages and root-cause analysis for long-term fixes.
• Respond to equipment malfunctions and coordinate repairs.
• Support manufacturing operations by resolving technical problems and coordinating with plans and suppliers for sustainable solutions.
• Develop and maintain a library of electrical and mechanical drawings, PLC and HMI programs for equipment.
• Identify timely and cost-effective replacements for obsolete components.
• Manage and improve remote interface capabilities.

About the Role

Responsibilities:

• Provide technical expertise needed for timely recovery from equipment outages as well as identifying long term solutions to minimize future outages.
• Provide prompt response to analyze equipment malfunctions as well as coordinate repairs.
• Support the Contech Plastics Manufacturing to address technical problems that include root cause and analysis, being a liaison between plans and suppliers to identify and resolve equipment issues with long term solutions that are sustainable.
• Develop and maintain a common technical library of electrical and mechanical drawings, programmable logic controller (PLC) and human machine interface (HMI) programs, etc. related to the manufacturing equipment located at all locations.
• Identify timely and cost-effective solutions for replacement of obsolete components.
• Manage, maintain and improve remote interface capabilities.
• Other duties assigned.

About You

We Require:

• Preferred Education: Associates Degree with focus in Electro-Mechanical Technology/Engineering Technology/Electrical Technology
• Required minimum education: Post-Secondary
• Combination of post-secondary education and experience will be considered in lieu of degree
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Electro-Mechanical Technician or similar in a manufacturing environment.
• Excellent electrical and mechanical aptitude.
• Proficient in analyzing hard-wired relay control systems as well as modern programmable logic controllers.
• Must be able to safely evaluate alternating current and direct current systems up to 480 volts.
• Strong computer skills.
• Hands-on approach to job task to include seeking additional information on the task as required.
• Self-starter and able to execute job tasks with limited supervision. Motivated to identify root cause and long-term solution.
