Job summary

PDS Tech Commercial is seeking an Electro-Mechanical Maintenance Technician to support a leading manufacturing operation in Richmond, VA. This role focuses on maximizing equipment uptime, reliability, and safety by maintaining highly automated production systems.

You will troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components, read schematics, and participate in Lean initiatives to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Qualifications

• Degree or certification in a related field, technical/vocational training, or equivalent experience.
• 5-8 years of maintenance experience in manufacturing or industrial environments, or 4 years in related military service.
• Strong troubleshooting across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
• Ability to read electrical schematics, technical drawings, and equipment manuals.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on manufacturing equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Diagnose equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
• Document maintenance activities and downtime in CMMS.
• Collaborate with operators and engineers to resolve issues efficiently.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean/Kaizen.

What You'll Do

As an Electro-Mechanical Maintenance Technician, you will play a key role in maximizing equipment uptime and supporting production success by:

• Performing preventive and corrective maintenance on manufacturing equipment
• Troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
• Diagnosing equipment failures, identifying root causes, and implementing effective corrective actions
• Supporting the safe and reliable operation of production and electrical testing equipment
• Reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics, manuals, and wiring diagrams
• Accurately documenting maintenance activities, repairs, downtime events, and work orders within CMMS systems
• Partnering with operators, engineers, and fellow technicians to resolve equipment issues efficiently
• Participating in continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean Manufacturing and Kaizen activities
• Following and improving standardized maintenance procedures and best practices
• Maintaining a clean, organized, and safety-focused work environment

Required Qualifications

• Degree in a related field, technical/vocational certification, military technical training, or equivalent experience
• 5-8 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment, or 4 years of related military experience
• Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
• Ability to independently diagnose and repair industrial equipment
• Experience performing preventive maintenance and managing work orders
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, technical drawings, and equipment manuals
• Familiarity with CMMS systems and basic computer applications
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and commitment to safety
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented manufacturing environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience maintaining conveyors, automated production equipment, or electrical testing systems
• Working knowledge of PLCs, VFDs, servo drives, robotics, and industrial automation systems
• Experience supporting Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations
• Background participating in Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, TPM, or continuous improvement initiatives
• Experience working in highly automated manufacturing environments

Pay Details:

$28.00 to $32.00 per hour
