Job summary

Tec Centro – Capital Region is seeking an experienced Electro-Mechanical / Industrial Maintenance Instructor to deliver hands-on training in industrial maintenance, electrical, automation, and skilled trades in Central Pennsylvania.

The role emphasizes classroom, laboratory, demonstration, and hands-on instruction to prepare students for industry careers and emphasizes safety and clear communication. Teaching experience is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on industry experience in industrial maintenance, electrical, electro-mechanical systems, automation, or related fields.
• Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot industrial equipment and systems.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and technical documentation.
• Commitment to workplace safety and proper work practices.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

What You'll Teach

You'll provide a combination of classroom, laboratory, demonstration, and hands‑on instruction covering core industrial maintenance and electro‑mechanical skills.

Training topics may include:

• Electrical fundamentals and electrical safety
• AC/DC electrical systems
• Industrial wiring and electrical components
• Motors, motor controls, starters, relays, contactors, and transformers
• Electrical troubleshooting and diagnostics
• Industrial electrical systems
• Mechanical systems and power transmission
• Bearings, belts, chains, gears, couplings, and related components
• Pneumatic and hydraulic systems
• Industrial controls and automation
• Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
• Sensors, switches, and control devices
• Preventive and predictive maintenance
• Industrial equipment troubleshooting
• Reading electrical schematics and mechanical drawings
• Electrical meters and diagnostic equipment
• Hand and power tools
• Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands‑on industry experience in one or more of the following:

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience teaching, training, mentoring, or supervising employees.
• Experience working with apprentices, entry‑level technicians, or individuals entering the skilled trades.
• PLC programming or troubleshooting experience.
• Industrial automation and controls experience.
• Manufacturing or production equipment experience.
• OSHA and/or NFPA 70E knowledge.
• Lockout/Tagout experience.
• Relevant industry certifications or licenses.
• Associate degree, technical diploma, or formal training in electrical, electro‑mechanical, industrial maintenance, automation, mechatronics, or a related field.

Teaching experience is preferred but not required. Strong industry experience combined with the ability to teach, communicate, and mentor others is highly valued.

$60,000 - $80,007 a year
