Job summary

Randstad USA is seeking an experienced Electro-Mechanical Technician for a direct-hire, union position. You will perform electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and emergency repairs on high-speed paper converting and packaging equipment to maximize production uptime.

Qualifications

  • Industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills: 480V systems, motors, hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical production equipment (motors, drives, conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, power transmissions).

NOW HIRING - DIRECT HIRE - IMMEDIATE START Position: Electro-Mechanical Technician

Location: Carol Stream, IL

Industry: Paper Packaging Manufacturing

Shift: 8-hour shifts (12 consecutive days, alternating weekends off). Must be flexible for days, nights, weekends, and overtime.

Pay: $28.00 - $37.00/hr (+ $1 dollar more per hour training milestones + shift differentials)

Role Summary Randstad USA is seeking an experienced Electro-Mechanical Technician for a direct-hire, union position. You will perform electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and emergency repairs on high-speed paper converting and packaging equipment to maximize production uptime.

Key Responsibilities
  • Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical production equipment (motors, drives, conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, power transmissions).
  • Electrical & PLCs: Install/replace electrical components (up to 480V, switches, relays, sensors). Troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment (diagnostics only).
  • Schematics & Blueprints: Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and hydraulic/pneumatic prints.
  • General Maintenance: Perform welding, fabrication, machining, and facility utility repairs. Document work orders using a CMMS.
Qualifications & Skills
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • strong troubleshooting skills: 480V systems, motors, hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems.
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency with hand/power tools and welding equipment.
  • Requirement: Must provide your own maintenance tools.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Progressive wage increases up to $37.00/hr based on skill mastery.

Responsibilities
  • Installing and repairing all electrical production devices within the plant.
  • Performing breakdown repairs, preventative maintenance, predictive maintenance, etc. on all production equipment, utilities, building/grounds, etc.
  • Completing parts requisitions, work orders, time sheets, in Computerized manufacturing Maintenance Management System.
  • Electrician disassembles defective electrical equipment, replaces defective or worn parts, and reassembles equipment.
  • Responsible for replacing all fuses, light sockets, bulbs and switches
  • Working independently and on production teams.
  • Demonstrating safe manufacturing work practices.
  • Use PLCs for routine troubleshooting.
  • Understand and complete all associated manufacturing paperwork.
  • Adhere to preventative/predictive maintenance production schedules.
  • Read and work from mechanical and electrical blueprints
  • Other manufacturing duties as assigned.
