Job summary

FEV North America Inc in Auburn Hills, MI is seeking an experienced engineer specializing in hybrid/electric vehicle control systems, HV interfaces, and embedded controls for electrified powertrains.

The role will support customer-facing development and integration work, including HV hardware interfaces, controls software/firmware, vehicle bring-up, troubleshooting, and validation readiness for advanced vehicle programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Computer, Mechatronics, Controls or related field.
• 3+ years in hybrid/electric vehicle controls or embedded controls for powertrains.
• Experience with embedded C for real-time control.
• Knowledge of CAN, vehicle networks, and diagnostics.
• Proficient with MATLAB/Simulink and Stateflow.
• Familiar with ISO 26262 and functional safety concepts.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and mature controls software and strategies for electrified propulsion and HV systems.
• Develop, review, and troubleshoot embedded controls software in C for vehicle and powertrain systems.
• Define system and functional requirements including interfaces and I/O.
• Support vehicle integration, prototype start-up, and on-site troubleshooting.
• Review architecture, firmware validation coverage, and identify risks.
• Develop plant models, simulations, and validation activities for powertrain components.
• Conduct MiL/SiL/HiL, bench, dyno, and vehicle testing to validate control functions.
• Interface with hardware, software, diagnostics, validation, and customer teams.
• Ensure compliance with automotive standards and safe HV practices.
• Lead or support project execution and communications with customers.
