Job summary

Tucson Electric Power Company seeks a Fleet Specifications Specialist to develop, manage, and maintain technical specifications for fleet vehicles and equipment supporting electric and gas operations.

You will collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers to optimize configurations, maintain documentation, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards. This role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 5+ years of experience in fleet management, vehicle specification, or utility operations.
• Knowledge of safety standards and practices in a shop environment.
• Knowledge of utility fleet equipment and vocational truck configurations.
• Familiarity with CAD drawings, specification writing, and technical documentation.
• Understanding of regulatory requirements (DOT, OSHA).
• Knowledge of telematics and fleet software systems.
• Good verbal and written communication; able to run productive meetings.
• Time management and multitasking abilities.
• Ability to work independently and in teams; budget/time constraints understood.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and manage technical specifications for all fleet vehicles and equipment.
• Maintain centralized specification documentation in Laserfiche and related records systems.
• Ensure specifications meet operational, safety, and regulatory requirements (DOT/OSHA).
• Collaborate with internal teams to analyze needs and design optimized vehicle configurations.
• Coordinate with OEMs, upfitters, and suppliers to review specifications and assess technology options.
• Monitor supplier lead times, product availability, and supply chain risks; inform stakeholders.
• Support fleet purchasing activities and coordinate check-ins, inspections, and upfits.
• Travel to company locations and vendor facilities as required to support fleet operations.
