Job summary

General Motors (GM) Milford Proving Ground seeks an Electrification Diagnostic Strategist Engineer to lead calibration development for electric/hybrid vehicle systems. This hybrid role includes in-vehicle testing, lab work, and collaboration with software/hardware engineers to optimize performance and timing.

The role demands 5+ years in automotive controls, strong problem-solving, and hands-on experience with INCA, Vehicle Spy, CRETA, MDA, and MATLAB/Simulink.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical or software engineering.
• At least 5 years of automotive controls, calibration, diagnostics and/or hardware development.
• Knowledge of and passion for electric and hybrid-electric vehicles.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• DFSS Black Belt.
• Experience with calibration tools: INCA, Vehicle Spy, CRETA, MDA, MATLAB/Simulink.

Responsibilities

• Develop and document requirements to calibrate automotive systems.
• Design and manage interfaces to enable component reuse and best practices.
• Coordinate requirements development with other activities.
• Provide support for root cause analysis.
• Capture and analyze empirical data efficiently.
• Design tests to identify calibration improvement opportunities.
• Stay updated on industry trends and best practices.
• Plan and execute the overall diagnostic development plan.
• Provide technical guidance to other calibrators.
• Develop and optimize diagnostic calibrations to meet performance and timing requirements.
• Identify and procure resources for calibration development.
• Support resolution of vehicle, plant, durability/dyno, or customer issues.
• Represent the diagnostic calibration team in program forums.
